This holiday season as your thoughts turn to, “What gifts should I buy my children this year?” I am challenging you to think outside of the traditional gift giving box. I write prevention books for children age’s 0-8 years old. My books discuss friendship, anger control, school safety and child abuse prevention. I know safety books are not on a child’s wanted gift list in any part of the country. Children do not dwell on safety issues; they leave this to their parents. As a parent, I do not think there is a greater gift to give this holiday season than the gift of safety. Without safety, no child can have a happy childhood. My landmark children’s books discuss difficult issues by offering hope and information to children without unnecessary scariness. I do not work from a fear-based standpoint, but an information is knowledge perspective. My books have been well received, and I have never had a mother say, “Your book frightened my toddler!” For this I am grateful.
